-Zone One You will need cloth diapers (idiaper uses unbleached, Indian cotton 4-8-4 prefolds), Snappis (the modern version of a diaper pin), diaper covers and a diaper pail with liners. The covers go on over the cloth diapers and can be made from many different materials. Here at idiaper, we recommend Thirsties brand DuoWrap diaper covers which are made from a single layer of waterproof laminated fabric and use a Velcro closure. They’re soft, colorful, and very easy to use and are available for purchase at our online store. NO. Please do not wash or rinse the diapers yourself. Home laundering often leads to staining. All you need to do is put the soiled diapers in the diaper pail liner we provide. After your baby starts eating solids most of her poop will be solid or formed. When that happens just flip the solid poop into the toilet. If the poop isn’t solid then don’t worry about it. You will need to wash your diaper covers yourself. They do not launder any differently than your clothes - just toss them in with your normal wash when they get soiled. There are lots of different kinds of cloth diapers and we tested just about all of them. In the end we decided on unbleached Indian Cotton prefold 4-8-4 diapers for our standard diaper service. The 4-8-4 refers to the ply count, meaning, our diapers have 4 layers of soft cotton along each side, and 8 layers in the center. This is a premium, thirtsy diaper, most diaper services use 4-6-4 diapers which are less absorbent. Those white diapers you are probably expecting require a bleaching process that can pollute the environment and weaken the threads. The diapers from our service are a light brown color – the way nature intended. You are probably referring to a study commissioned by Proctor & Gamble (the largest manufacturer of disposables). This “independent” study found that cloth diapers required so much water to wash that they were less environmentally viable than disposables. This is completely false. In fact, that same study conceded that commercial diaper services were the most environmentally friendly way to diaper your child. But amazingly P&G didn't make that part of the study public. "Reusing" cloth diapers that are laundered in a local facility using eco-friendly cleaning products in high efficiency machines and delivered in a fuel efficient vehicle are better for the environment than disposables made from a combination of bleached plastics, dyes and chemicals often in factories overseas, trucked across continents, used once then discarded where they spend hundreds of years decomposing, not to mention the human waste discarded along with it leaching bacteria and virus into the water system. A baby will require about 4000 diaper changes their first year, with disposable diapers, that's 4000 diapers in a landfill, up to 10,000 over a baby's diaper career! What if I have multiple children in diapers? Then you certainly have your hands full! Our multiple baby price schedule is as follows: If you purchased one of our diaper pails, your citrus deodorant disk may need to be changed. You will receive a new citrus circle disk at the beginning of each month, simply pop it out and replace it with the new one. I use a diaper service in my hometown and am traveling to the Tri-State area on vacation, do you have a guest program? You bet! Contact us at least 2 weeks prior to your arrival and we will schedule a drop off and pickup at a location of your choosing, within our service area. Let us know how long you’ll be in town, what size and how many diapers your baby will require and if you have any other special needs. The cost of this service is our weekly standard service rate in the zone you'll be visiting and will consist of one drop off and one pickup per week. If you plan to be in the area for an extended stay, please contact us to set up a plan that’s right for you and your baby. Email us. If you plan to be gone for about a week, we can deliver double diapers on the delivery day before you leave so you can cloth diaper on the road. If you will be using cloth and will be gone for longer than a week we can make arrangements to get you the extra diapers you need. We also have relationships with diaper services across the country and could possibly set up "visitor service" for you so you don't have to tote dirties home. If you plan to use disposables, we can suspend your diaper service for the time you’re gone. For major holidays we will let you know our schedule a few weeks in advance. If, for example, Christmas Day falls on your delivery day we will probably make arrangements to pick up your dirties the next day. You will not be without clean diapers, don’t worry. For inclement weather you can assume we will be making our deliveries unless you hear from us. All diapers (cloth or disposable) leak sometimes. However, if your child is consistently blowing out his diaper it could be due to a number of problems. First, it may be time for your child to move up a size. If you’re having trouble getting the diaper entirely across your child’s stomach, contact us about a size change. Second, if you’re not using the Snappis we provided you may want to consider trying. Using a Snappi to hold the diaper in place will help guard against leaks. Of course! We are very flexible. If you’re comfortable, you may give us the code to your building and we’ll pick up the diapers outside your door. If you’re not comfortable, we can arrange to pick your diapers up from your doorman, at a friend’s house or another pre-determined location. Call us! We know parents are busy, so it does happen on occasion. If the diapers are not there when we arrive we will knock on your door or call you. If you’re home this will not be an issue. If you’re not home we can’t leave clean diapers without picking up the dirties. Please give us a call, we may be able to come back that same day (no charge) or make a special trip the next day for a small fee. You will receive a reminder email the day before your scheduled pick up day to remind you to put the diapers out. Yes. We have a gift registry right on our store. We also sell gift certificates in $10.00 increments which you can assign to your expectant friend or family member. Are there any diaper creams I can’t use with cloth? Yes, please do not use Desitin Regular diaper cream; it stains the diapers. However, any other diaper cream is perfectly acceptable. Most parents find there is little or no problem with diaper rash when using our service. We do, however, offer a locally produced product called Buttercup & Jake Cocoa Calendula Balm which, when applied to the diaper area after each change, creates a protective barrier to help prevent painful diaper rash. Not a problem. The bag your diapers arrive in is waterproof. Please make sure the bag with the dirties in it is tied up tightly. We sincerely hope you only cancel service because your child is potty trained. If you are canceling for any other reason please let us help fix the problem! To cancel please call us with at least one week’s notice. Any unredeemed diaper service fees (minus any prepay discount) will be refunded and there will be a $2.00 per diaper charge for missing or damaged diapers and .25 for missing flannel wipes.

How does Innovative Diaper Service compare in cost to disposable diapering?
Depending on which plan you choose, cloth diapering your baby with Innovative Diaper Service can cost as little as $.25 per diaper for a single baby household (around $.20 per diaper for one with 2 babies), about the same as lower priced disposables. But since you really wouldn't put a price on your baby's safety and comfort, the real "cost" comparison in using any diaper service is the reduced effect diapering has on the earth. "Saving" 40 pounds (yes, 40 pounds, per baby, per week) of non-biodegradable waste from landfills weekly and eliminating the associated human waste from entering the water supply are elements of cloth diapering that are "priceless".
I own my own prefold diapers, will you wash them? What about pocket diapers?
We have no problem washing clients personal diapers, including pockets, but because we are a weekly service, you'd have to own quite a few diapers for it to make sense. For example, each of our infant babies is "assigned" 160 infant sized diapers when they enroll, and are rotated each week, meaning we pick up about 80 and drop off about 80 each week. Many parents find that hiring our service is easier than washing their own diapers, not to mention a home washer can't get the diapers as sterile as our wash system. Add in the water used, wear and tear on your equipment, time spent away from your family and weekly diaper service is a home run! Many parents who also occasionally use their own pockets and all-in-ones drop them into the pail with thier dirties and we are happy to wash them.
What exactly do I need to get started?
How many diaper covers will I need?
We recommend at least 3. It really depends on how old your child is and how often you prefer to do laundry. Older children have more solid poop and are less likely to soil their covers. Newborns have very liquid poop and are quite likely to “blow out” both cloth and disposable diapers.
